14 Adorable Shetland Sheepdog Mixes: Cuteness Overload!

The Shetland Sheepdog is an amazing and highly attractive breed, but it gets even better with its mixes.

Shetland Sheepdogs are an amazing dog breed. As their name implies, these little fellas originated from the Shetland Islands which is an island in Scotland.

They are a breed of herding dogs but are mostly raised as family dogs, which is no surprise because of their high intelligence, loyalty, adaptability, and super cuteness.

But when they get crossed with other dog breeds, they give birth to offspring with a whole new level of cuteness and amazing features and abilities.

I’ve provided a list of adorable Shetland Sheepdog mixes just for you! But be careful, you could fall deeply in love.

#1 Sheltidoodle (Shetland Sheepdog / Poodle)

This super cutie is formed from the cross between the Shetland Sheepdog and the Poodle. The Poodle is the second most intelligent dog after the Border Collie, so it’s no surprise he is just as super-intelligent and energetic.

Sheltidoodles are highly energetic dogs that love exercising, which is why they love playing around and being taken on walks. If possible, they should be taken on road trips and vacations too because it also keeps them excited.

If you own this good boy, there is just no way you can say no to taking him around with you because he is very attractive and friendly — even with strangers.

#2 Shelchon (Shetland Sheepdog / Bichon Frise)

This adorable doggie is one of a kind. He is also known as a Sheltie Bichon because he is a hybrid of the Shetland Sheepdog and the Bichon Frise.

Shelchons are very energetic and tend to bark a lot but that’s something that can be controlled with training. They are very familiar with children but could be toughies around strangers.

If there’s one thing they really love, it’s spending time with their owners, and if left alone for long periods, they could become unhappy and destructive. But the mix of toughness and cuteness in them just makes them amazing and fun to have!

#3 Eskland (Shetland Sheepdog / American Eskimo)

Esklands are sweet and hyperactive mixes which are hybrids of the American Eskimo and the Shetland Sheepdog breeds.

Due to their hyperactive nature, they might not be so suitable for grandpas and grandmas, but for active and young parents or couples.

They love the winter period and are known to jump and move around happily and freely when it’s snowing because of the protection they receive from their thick fur.

You might be worried that their thick fur could make them overheat during temperate periods, but it doesn’t. Their hyperactivity makes them great and fun dogs to have around the house, especially if you have children.

#4 Shel-Aussie (Shetland Sheepdog / Australian Shepherd)

The Shel-Aussie is another cute and amazing doggo. They aren’t very good at being apartment dogs but are great at being herd dogs, which is a trait inherited from one of their parents, the Australian Shepherd.

They aren’t all that hyperactive, and they get along easily with anyone, both young and old. But if you have a little animal such as a duck or rabbit at home, they might not really be the best choice because of their strong herding instincts.

But their thick and long coat just makes them astonishing and impossible to ignore. So if you want a dog who is very friendly, super cute, and also has strong herding instincts, they are the perfect fit for you!

#5 Border Sheepdog (Shetland Sheepdog / Border Collie)

There is no other perfect word to describe this cute little guy than “versatility.” The Border Sheepdog has the intelligence, adaptability, energy, and every other amazing trait of both its parents: the Border Collie and the Shetland Sheepdog.

As cute as they come, it could be hard to tell their specific appearances because their parents also come in different and numerous varieties.

He easily gets along with animals and people and could be an apartment dog, but if you also need a dog that has the capabilities of a show dog and a working or herd dog, then he is just perfect!

#6 Cava-Shell (Shetland Sheepdog / Cavalier King Charles Spaniel)

When it comes to being very gentle and calm, this beauty is the best at that. Cava-Shells are a hybrid of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Shetland Sheepdog; thus, the reason for their royal beauty and high intelligence combined.

They are receptive and do not bark around strangers, but tend to be reserved around them. But this only happens for a short period as they become free with strangers over time.

They are amazing dogs for both young and old, and if you want a dog that doesn’t get too hyper and is fun to be with, then the Cava-Shell should be your choice.

#7 Cosheltie (Shetland Sheepdog / Collie)

Here’s another adorable creature; she’s a Cosheltie. Coshelties are another astonishing mix, which is a hybrid of the Shetland Sheepdog and the super-intelligent Collie.

Coshelties are also very agile and easy to train. They also have strong herding instincts and tend to try herding anything that lets them — even babies too.

Just like the Colie, they are also very protective and could even serve as watchdogs. They are amazingly intelligent, friendly, and great at understanding people, which makes them a bundle of joy to have.

#8 Shethund (Shetland Sheepdog / Dachshund)

This cute little fella is another amazing hybrid who’s great in numerous areas. He’s great at hunting, herding, and being a home dog too.

The Shethund is a talented mix that is obtained from the cross between the Dachshund and the Shetland Sheepdog.

Even though the Dachshund is really into hunting, the Shethund isn’t all that much into hunting but could tend to still exhibit such traits sometimes.

They are little and adorable, and you just can’t resist wanting to have them so you could snuggle them.

#9 Sheltie Shepherd (Shetland Sheepdog / German Shepherd)

A cute doggie, isn’t he? This cute big boy who has German roots is just as amazing in many areas as his parents. Just like the German Shepherd, he is very strong and versatile, and just like the Shetland Sheepdog, he is very playful and intelligent.

Sheltie Shepherds are amazingly friendly and just like most of the other Shetland Sheepdogs, they also have herding instincts, which is why children and other pets need to be supervised around them.

They are great learners but could sometimes prove to be a bit stubborn. But don’t worry; you just have to be patient enough with them, and with time, they would be able to learn any trick you teach them. They are just all-round amazing to have around.

#10 Sheltie-Kee (Shetland Sheepdog / Keeshond)

The innocent-looking Sheltie-Kee is another super adorable Shetland Sheepdog mix. He is a hybrid of the Shetland Sheepdog and the Keeshond.

He is also very energetic, perhaps too energetic and needs to be given enough exercise frequently to burn out some of that energy.

His high energy level also makes him very loud and vocal around strangers, but if trained properly at a young age, he can control it.

Due to the fact that this cute doggy is highly positive, energetic, and rarely gets sad or moody, he is just a fantastic companion to have.

#11 Golden Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog / Golden Retriever)

Here’s the golden-hearted, easy-going Golden Sheltie. He is very affectionate and easy-going with close ones and family members, but could also be a loud Barker around strangers. Just train him properly at a young age, and he’ll get used to seeing strangers.

The Golden Sheltie is a great dog who is an offspring to the Golden Retriever who was naturally bred for hunting. Golden Shelties combine the amazing personalities of both the Golden Retriever and Shetland Sheepdog.

They aren’t hyperactive and do not need rigorous exercise, but giving them enough exercise helps to balance them mentally and physically.

He’s very playful and loves carrying things in his mouth, which makes him great at playing fetch, and also, a fantastic companion to have.

#12 Sheltie Pin ( Shetland Sheepdog / Miniature Pinscher)

Don’t be fooled by this cute little doggie’s simple-looking body; he is pretty much a simple, yet amazing and highly energetic dog.

Sheltie Pins, which are hybrids of the Min Pin and the Shetland Sheepdog breed, are very vocal and super active due to the energy-packed in their little body and may make them unsuitable for normal, simple apartment life.

They are single coated and not double-coated, which means they don’t need super frequent grooming, and also, may not be able to withstand cold weather, but can withstand warmer weather.

Regular exercise is also recommended for them, as it helps to make them physically and mentally stable, and would not lead to them becoming depressed or destructive.

Their energy makes them adventurous and super playful which is what makes them fun to be with.

#13 Cocker Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog / Cocker Spaniel)

The Cocker Sheltie is another beautiful hybrid to behold. With its sweet and intelligent nature combined with its beautiful appearance, the Cocker Sheltie is a superb companion.

It is a hybrid of the Spanish Cocker Spaniel and the Shetland Sheepdog. Cocker Shelties are very obedient, energetic, and eager to learn, which means teaching them a new trick would be an easy peasy task.

Due to their energy, they are likely to wander off chasing something such as vehicles or animals if they aren’t placed on a leash. But the eagerness, obedience, and energy are what make them amazing and sweet doggies.

#14 Beagle Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog / Beagle)

The cross between the well-known agile Beagle and the Shetland Sheepdog is what results in the ever-loving Beagle Sheltie. Just like the Beagle, the Beagle Sheltie mix is a dog with an amazing energy and stamina level.

They are friendly and can relate with everyone, but they tend to bark a lot around strangers. That doesn’t actually make them vicious tough, as they are only being cautious.

The Beagle Sheltie has a coat that has the tendency of trapping dirt and debris easily, which is why they would need to be groomed and brushed frequently. The Beagle Sheltie is a loyal dog who is always ready to please you at all times.

My Final Thoughts

That sums up our compilation on the adorable Shetland Sheepdog mixes. They are all cute and talented in their own ways, which is a result of the combination of the Shetland Sheepdog’s special features and personality, with the amazing and unique abilities and personalities of other breeds.

From being great at herding, highly energetic, and large in size to being small and calm in nature. They are all great doggies, and if trained and treated well, you’ll rest assured of having nothing but a splendid time with them.
